Welcome to Show #22 of Glenn's Lost Classics. This Show will be celebrating John Fogerty's Birthday on May 28th. I could have easily done an all Creedence Clearwater show but I would like to go back to shows with more variety. So I am going to do some of the less known and my favorite Creedence songs, and a few songs from John Fogerty's solo career. I will also be including a lot of songs from other artists that have birthdays in May like Lou Gramm from Foreigner, Bob Seger, Alex Van Halen, Bono from U2, Steve Winwood from Traffic, Blind Faith, and The Spencer Davis Group, Paul Thompson and Brian Eno from Roxy Music, Bill Bruford and Rick Wakeman from Yes, Dusty Hill from ZZ Top, Pete Townsend from the Who, Bob Dylan, Stevie Nicks, Klaus Meine from the Scorpions, Levon Helm from the Band and Topper Headon from The Clash.
There are more Artists I would have included but it would have just been too much. As it is I had to add an extra set. It's awesome to be able to do this myself. I remember back when I was on KTST FM I had a 30 min show and I had to time it right out to the last second which often limited me to what I could play. With the release of Bayou Country Creedence became the most popular rock band in America, and they reached their artistic peak with the release of Cosmos Factory. In the 1970's Fogerty had to give up his royalties in order to get out of his contract with Fantasy Records. Fogerty refused to sing Creedence Songs for years and for 10 years quit the music business to live on a farm with his family and then came back with the release of Blue Moon Swamp in 1997. You can read more about his story at www.johnfogerty.com and get tickets for his latest tour My 50 Year Trip. Happy Birthday John Fogerty!
